Central Queensland Innovation Prospectus

The CQ Innovation Prospectus is a body of research, engagement and capacity building activities based on a unique collaborative approach between CQUniversity and Enterprise Connect's Innovative Regions Centre. The aim of the prospectus is to align the key Australian government agendas of regional development, innovation and sustainability in a planned approach across the CQ region. This will occur by providing a structure and objective analysis of regional opportunities, as well as a clear pathway by which regional stakeholders can partner and pursue innovation for dual outcomes in sustainability and regional development.

Key objectives include:

  • to provide a rationale, regional context and rigorous framework by which strategic, sustainable innovation activities can be planned and implemented with regional SMEs and leading innovation organisations;
  • to provide research (academic commentary) around regional innovation, including the nexus between innovation, sustainability and regional development;
  • to provide models by which regional innovation can be better understood and measured, as well as tools by which regional innovation can be predicted and evaluated;
  • to introduce innovation ‘wedges' that will help maximise regional innovation, sustainability and competitiveness - that is, to stimulate networks, scope new projects and commence training with SMEs and others in areas such as innovation thinking and sustainable business practices; and
  • to leave the region with a clear plan, and the capability, to take the Prospectus activities forward beyond 2011.

The project commenced February 2011 and will conclude late 2011.
