CEM Membership Guidelines

Mission

The Centre for Environmental Management is about providing knowledge and skills to achieve environmentally sustainable development.

Membership

The Centre for Environmental Management welcomes academic staff at CQU to be aligned with the Centre. Criteria for membership are as follows:

  • Staff should have a research interest in environmental management issues, or other specific issues relevant to the CEM programme areas
  • Staff should be classified by CQU as research active.

There will be two categories of membership available to academic staff:

Academic members

  • Academic members will normally be associated with a research programme, and actively contribute to the research performance of the Centre through:
          •  Publication of at least two refereed publications in ERA ranked journals A*, A, or B over each two year period,
  • Attribution of publications to CEM in ACQUIRE.
  • Academic members of the Centre will be eligible for incentive rewards and funding support through a range of Centre programs. Separate support programs are available for students.
  • Academic members who have reduced research outputs over time may be re-classified as Associate members.

Associate members

  • Associate members may not necessarily be associated with a research programme, and may only occasionally contribute to the research performance of the Centre.
  • Associate members will not normally be eligible for funding support from the Centre.
  • Associate members who improve research outcomes can be re-classified as Academic members.
  • Associate membership may help academic staff to achieve a teaching-research nexus.

Other information:

  • CQU academics can be members of other Centres as well as the Centre for Environmental Management.
  • Research staff employed within CEM are automatically classified as academic members.
  • Postgraduate students associated with CEM are automatically classified as Associate members.
