The Centre has approximately 30 full time research and technical staff as well as a joint collaboration with a number of Professors employed by Central Queensland University. The Centre supports postgraduate students at all CQU campuses across Queensland and further applications are always welcome for consideration. Interns from around the world frequent the Centre often as part of an ongoing project or to study a project all their own.

Laboratory
The Centre's laboratories are suited for all types of terrestrial, marine and aquatic empirical research as well as current technology for theoretical and modelling research.
Field Equipment
The Centre's field equipment includes two commercially registered research vessels (6m and 4m) which are operated and maintained by a fully qualified coxswain, several 4WD vehicles and a wide range of sampling equipment.
