Abstract:
Professor Kerry Mummery will assume the role of Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Alberta in July of this year. Prior to his departure, he will be giving his "Final Lecture" at CQUniversity to reflect on the research and scholarly activities that he has been involved with since his arrival at CQUniversity in 1997. The lecture will cover a range of scholarly topics, but will focus on the development and promotion of health-related physical activity in primary and secondary prevention settings, and reflect the work that he and his research group have built upon over the past decade. Professor Mummery has led the 10,000 Steps program locally and throughout Australia since 2001, and has been an invited speaker at conferences in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Europe, China and the United States to talk about the original 10,000 Steps project. He now looks forward to the opportunity to summarise the lessons learned from the project over the years to a local audience. Recent work and current projects involving the use of information technology to promote physical activity and health will also be featured in this, his ‘final' lecture.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Regards,
Professor Robert H. Reed
