Louise Byrne is lecturer and a course co-ordinator for the undergraduate and postgraduate ‘Recovery approach in Mental Health’ courses. Louise is employed as a Recovery lecturer and Lived Experience Practitioner, which means she teaches from her own lived experience of; mental health challenges, service use and most importantly, Recovery. This allows Louise to impart to students some of the ‘internal’ learning required in order to effectively; self-reflect, understand the process of change, work with others to achieve change, understand the consumer perspective and build therapeutic relationships based on collaboration and partnership. Louise is passionate about simulation and experiential learning strategies and utilises these in her assessment items and throughout the course work.
