Mission

CMHNI will provide leadership in mental health nursing at local, state, national and international levels and will become a focal point for research and scholarly advance in mental health nursing in partnership with key stakeholders from industry and the broader community.

Aims and Objectives

  • Engaging with consumers and providers from mental health services from the public, private and non-government sectors
  • Becoming a platform for collaborative inter-disciplinary research contributing to a more effective, consumer-focused mental health service
  • Undertaking high quality research
  • Promoting leadership roles for lived experience practitioners in mental health practice and mental health nursing education
  • Attracting, retaining and completing higher degree students
  • Disseminating research findings to professional and general public audiences
  • Promoting the translation of research findings into practice and educational programs (award and non-award)
  • Developing evidence-based position papers on issues relevant to mental health nursing practice
  • Promoting CMHNI activities via a regular electronic newsletter and web site
