Presenter: Associate Professor Xiafang Chen (Shanghai University)
Assoc/Professor Xiafang (Shar-fong) Chen was formerly Head of College English Teaching & Research Section and an accredited MA research supervisor for English Linguistics and Literature Program at Shanghai University of Finance and University. She has been involved in both teaching and research. While her most recent research interest is in educational leadership, vocational education and training, she also researches in the areas of sociolinguistics, TESOL, applied linguistics and second language acquisition. She has published one book in sociolinguistics, one co-authored book in English linguistics, and papers in refereed journals and conferences in the field of TESOL, linguistics and education.
While in Australia, Xiafang Chen is researching leadership and senior learning reform as part of an Australian Research Council Linkage project being jointly undertaken by CQUniversity and University of Western Sydney. She is a member of an inter-state and inter-national collaborative research team, led by Professor Michael Singh and A/Professor Bobby Harreveld, and PhD students from China. Her time in Queensland will be spent giving seminars as a Visiting Scholar to Learning & Teaching Education Research Centre and the School of Learning & Innovation as well as undertaking fieldwork in Rockhampton, Gladstone and Bundaberg as part of the ARC project. She will also be visiting the CQU campuses in Gladstone (27 July) and Bundaberg (29-30 July).
