Frequently Asked Questions

This page will grow as need dictates.  If you have a question that you don't see answered below, please contact us.

aCQUIRe and Publication Outputs

1. Q. What is aCQUIRe?

A.  aCQUIRe is a database which is the institutional digital research repository for CQUniversity's research output.  The Library manages this database.  Works submitted may be documents, images, video, and other objects.  If you have any queries on this procedure at all, contact the Research Librarians via email, research-librarian@cqu.edu.au

2. Q. What is HERDC?

A. The acronym stands for the Higher Education Research Data Collection.  The Office of Research maintains the HERDC publications collection for CQUniversity. The HERDC comprises research income and research publications data submitted by universities each year to the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research.  LTERC bases the allocation of its Research Incentive Scheme (RIS) funds on those publications in the HERDC publications collection in aCQUIRe each year provided that the work is affiliated to the Research Centre.

3. Q. Do I have to submit my work twice, that is in aCQUIRe and to the HERDC Publications Collection?

A. No. Just enter everything into the one repository, aCQUIRe - the Office of Research has an instruction manual on how to submit publications to the HERDC Publications Collection which directs you to the aCQUIRe research repository.

4. Q. How do I enter a publication or some other work into aCQUIRe?

A. If you wish to submit an item to the aCQUIRe database, click on the 'Contribute' link in the top menu bar at the aCQUIRE Homepage.  If you are entering details of a book, for example, it is suggested that you copy the front and back covers, the publication information page (ISBN etc.), the Table of Contents, the Introduction or Preface, and any other affiliation information that may be present.  The aCQUIRe web form suggests that "the post-print or final version, not in the publisher's format' be submitted.  This is if you wish to upload a final version of your manuscript to the database to provide a copy to download.  This will depend, of course, on any agreement you have with the publisher.

5. What are the Field of Research (FOR) and Socio-Economic Objectives (SEO) Codes?

A.  You may like to visit the ANZSRC website to read more.  In summary, the codes have been created to improve the comparability and usefulness of research and development statistics across Australia and New Zealand and the rest of the world. The FOR code for Education is 13 and the SEO code, Education and Training is 93.
