Up to Four $30,000+ Scholarship Packages for Outstanding PhD Students in Health Research

CQUniversity is offering a great opportunity with up to four 3 year PhD Scholarships under the Health Collaborative Research Network (CRN) project in partnership with Curtin University, Queensland University of Technology and The University of Queensland.

The HEALTH CRN presents a unique opportunity offering both high-value scholarship packages along with access to researcher and research project development funding.

Package opportunities include:

  • Base package $30,000 per year (tax free) scholarship plus approximately $14,000 in additional benefits such as: travel, resource costs and ancillary work
  • Access up to $10,000 in collaborative research and researcher development programs dependant on performance
  • The HEALTH CRN Partnership offers the potential to build national research networks and project collaborations
  • Eligibility for other HEALTH CRN funded opportunities considered

Key Research Themes

Aligning with Australia's national health-research priorities, the HEALTH CRN's scholarships aim to maximise opportunities for researchers to harness CQUniversity's 'power of place'. With access to health networks on the ground in rural and regional communities CQUniversity is best positioned to engage with its communities to solve the challenges they face.

Preference will be given to strong candidates in the following areas:

Scholarships are available to candidates who wish to develop health-related research projects alongside larger, metropolitan research teams. Successful candidates will have a co-supervisor from one of the three HEALTH CRN partners: Curtin University; Queensland University of Technology; or The University of Queensland.

Candidates must:

  • Be undertaking or intend to enrol in a full-time PhD at CQUniversity
  • Be free to take up the HEALTH CRN Scholarship by the designated date in the offer letter
  • Not already have completed a degree at the doctoral level 
  • Not in receipt of another scholarship for the award of PhD
  • Candidates within a clinical discipline must possess the appropriate registration if required by the scope of their thesis and/or Human Research Ethics Committee
  • Fulfil all other CQUniversity doctoral candidate requirements for domestic students including visa requirements
  • Be an Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or have New Zealand citizenship and must be based in Australia for the duration of the Scholarship
  • Possess qualifications equivalent to an Australian:
    • First class Honours degree;
    • A Masters by Research degree; or
    • A Masters by coursework comprised of a dissertation of 25% or more and graded at distinction or above plus either (a) at least a distinction in two research coursework subjects or (b) evidence of peer-reviewed journal publications
  • In addition, if enrolled at a Partner University fulfil all the doctoral candidate requirements of that university

Discuss potential research topics with the contact identified under the specific health research areas on the Scholarships webpage.

Prepare an application on your identified specific health research area.

Complete the HEALTH CRN Application Cover Form and sign and date.

Complete the Domestic Postgraduate Research Scholarship Application Form (www.cqu.edu.au/research/future-candidates/apply)  (Note:  in response to Question 1, applicants MUST tick 'other' and specify HEALTH CRN).

Ensure all areas of the Domestic Postgraduate Research Scholarship Application Form are completed and that the declaration section is signed and relevant documents are attached.

Applications must be made through the School of Graduate Research. 

Checklist:

  1. The HEALTH CRN Scholarships and CQUniversity scholarships guidelines have been read and are understood.

  2. Applicants have made contact with the person identified under the specific health research areas to discuss the project idea.

  3. Application on special health research area is completed.

  4. The HEALTH CRN Application Cover Form has been completed and signed.

  5. The Domestic Postgraduate Research Scholarship Application Form has been completed, including the declaration and provision of attachments.

  6. The application is submitted through the School of Graduate Research (either by email or post), with a copy emailed to the HEALTH CRN.
