Australian Competitive Grants Register (ACGR)

The ACGR listing includes grants which have met criteria, specified by DIISRTE, for inclusion on the Register (which is updated annually).  Criteria for inclusion include: nationally competitive and for research only; available for allocation throughout Australia; and the budget for the scheme must be at least $200,000 for the most recent year.

The Research Infrastructure Block Grant (RIBG) allocation for the University is determined by our success in obtaining grants listed on the ACGR.

Click here for a link to the most current listing.

INTERNAL GRANTS

CQUniversity Research Infrastructure Grants (RIG) Scheme

CQUniversity receives funding from the Commonwealth government through the Research Infrastructure Block Grant (RIBG) to support Australian Competitive Grant funded research activities.  A portion of this Block Grant allocation will be distributed through a competitive application process under the CQUniversity Research Infrastructure Grants (RIG) Scheme.

The RIG Scheme will support the objectives of the RIBG by

  • encouraging the development of collaborative arrangements among and between University institutes and research centres, and with external organisations, to enhance and build research infrastructure; and
  • building research capacity in designated and emerging areas of research strength.

Applications close The next round will open in April 2013

Vice Chancellor’s Engaged Research Initiative: Regional Sustainability

CQUniversity is currently implementing an ambitious agenda of research and innovation which will have a significant impact on the University and the communities we service.  The University has a key role to play in the region as a contributor to, and driver of research and development that ‘meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs’.

Under the Vice-Chancellor’s Engaged Research Initiative applications are now invited for research which explores the social, cultural, economic and environmental needs, challenges and solutions which will contribute to regional sustainability.

Three types of Awards are available: Student Support Award; Start-Up Award; Full Project Award

Applications close The next round will open in 2013

Research Development Incentives (RDI) Program

The Research Development Incentives (RDI) Program is a competitive research grant program open to CQUniversity staff who meet the eligibility criteria of the relevant scheme.

RDI Seed Grant Scheme (SEED)

The primary purpose of the Seed Grant Scheme is the provision of initiation funding to encourage early career researchers to undertake an internally funded research project. The Scheme provides researchers with both a developmental experience and a means of initiating a project that will result in a research publication and/or obtaining funding from other sources.

Project support of up to $10,000 is available for up to one year.

The next round will open in June 2013

RDI Merit Grant Scheme (MERIT)

The purpose of the Merit Gran Scheme is the provision of opportunities for individuals or groups with well established or developing track records in research to initiate high quality research projects as demonstration of proof of concept, and for which external funding will be sought (within twelve months of completion of the project) from a Category 1 or other competitive grant program.

In this round applications are particularly encouraged that demonstrate engagement with stakeholders (end-users, policy-makers etc), and cross-disciplinary approaches to the research question.

Project support is available for up to two years in the range of $10,000 to $50,000.

The next round will open in June 2013

RDI Cooperative Research Grant Scheme (CRG)

The purpose of the Cooperative Research Grant Scheme is to support CQUniversity researchers seeking to develop the University's research capacity and achieve stronger performance outcomes through collaborative research projects with researchers from universities with whom CQUniversity has a research partnership.

Each application must include at least one eligible CI from CQUniversity and at least one Partner Investigator from another university.

The next round will open in June 2013

RDI CQUniversity/Industry Linkage Application Support Scheme (CLASS)

The purpose of the CQUniversity/Industry Linkage Application Support Scheme is to assist research collaboration between the University and eligible industry partners to prepare ARC Linkage Grant applications. Up to $10,000 will be provided to competitive quality research projects (that attract at least matching cash contributions from industry sources), through two funding rounds each year.

Research Advancement Award Scheme (RAAS)

The Research Advancement Award Scheme (RAAS) is a competitive funding program open to the University's active researchers who meet the eligibility criteria for the relevant award. Applications are called for biennially.

RAAS Early Career Fellowship

The Research Committee of Academic Board has established the RAAS Early Career Fellowship as a mechanism to recognise the contributions to the University by our future research leaders by enabling them to pursue a period of dedicated research effort to produce significant and measurable research outcomes and to consolidate their research profile. The overall aim of the Scheme is to provide for the University's intellectual environment by facilitating mentoring, team building, and career development in areas of current or future research strength.

RAAS Postdoctoral Research Award

The RAAS Postdoctoral Research Award was established by the University as a mechanism to recognise outstanding research contributions to the University, by providing for the recruitment of targeted research personnel.  The overall aim of the Scheme is to facilitate mentoring, team building, and career development in areas of current and future research strength.

Applications are invited from established CQUniversity researchers seeking funding to recruit a postdoctoral research fellow to join their research team, to support project-based funding that has already been secured, and to increase the overall research capacity and productivity of the team.

Applications close No further rounds will be offered in 2012.
