Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research)

The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) and Head of Campus, Gladstone is responsible for the University's research and research training objectives. Professor Hewitt provides leadership and advice to the Vice Chancellor and President, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & Research) on strategies for CQUniversity to further enhance its current research strengths as well to identify and develop new areas of expertise of relevance to its community, government and industry partners and stakeholders.

Professor Hewitt has executive responsibility for the Office of Research.

Alison is the Executive Assistant to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) and provides executive and administrative support to the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) in Gladstone.

Richelle Coll (Executive Officer, Reporting)

Richelle manages the reporting portfolio for Research Services and the strategic reporting requirements of the University including the ERA and HERDC collections.  Richelle also provides Executive Officer support to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research).

Vedette McGuire (Research Committees Administration Officer)

Vedette provides administrative support across a broad range of functions, including nominated research committees (namely Research Higher Degrees Committee and Research Committee of Academic Board), amending and updating policies and procedures, and providing front office support for the Office of Research.

Research Services Office

Manager, Research Services (please refer all enquiries to Ms Leslie Walker)

The Manager administers the IP portfolio of the University, including suitable commercialisation strategies and advises on strategic management within the institutes; contributes to research management within the University; compiles business cases; oversees the preparation of Annual Reports; advises on IP Policy and Procedures; advises on Consulting policy; oversees consulting submissions; and compiles submissions to government.  The position is located at the Gladstone campus of CQUniversity.

Leslie Walker (Grants Officer)

Leslie works with CQUniversity researchers (staff and students) in seeking and securing external funding for their research and arranging research agreements. Leslie also manages the University's internal research grants processes.

Sue Evans (Ethics and Compliance Officer)

Sue manages the administration of human and animal ethics clearance for research projects within the University and is the secretary to the following CQUniversity Committees: Human Research Ethics Committee (CQUniversityHREC), Animal Ethics Committee (CQUniversityAEC), and the Institutional Biosafety Committee. Sue is also the contact for limited impact research in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

School of Graduate Research

Associate Professor Owen Nevin (Dean, School of Graduate Research)

Kerrie Thompson (Manager, School of Graduate Research)

Kerrie is responsible for the management of all research higher degree functions and policies within the School of Graduate Research. She develops policy and oversees its implementation and assists the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) with strategic planning for research higher degrees at CQUniversity. Kerrie co-ordinates the delivery of relevant and strategic training in research to candidates and research staff across all campuses. Kerrie is also responsible for the monitoring of supervisor registration and training.

Kasey Girle (Research Higher Degrees Officer)

Libbie Blanchard and Kate Houston (Research Liaison Librarians)

Libbie and Kate provide assistance to researchers and research higher degree candidates in the areas of searching for information, information management, current awareness and document delivery. They are also the contact people for EndNote at CQUniversity.
