About Hannah Drysdale Library

Architectural features:

The Library building, constructed in 1993, was designed by Mackay architects, Sanders Ellick & Partners Pty Ltd.

The library has floor to ceiling windows adjacent to the reading and study areas, providing attractive views of nearby canefields and the Racecourse sugar mill. The interior is completely open plan with a clerestory ceiling rising above the roofline providing an attractive architectural feature and additional light from the feature windows.

Named After: The Cook Family, formerly of Greenmount, contributed $150,000 towards the construction of the library. The building was named in honour of Mrs Dorothy Cook's mother, Hannah Drysdale. Mr Perc Leivesley who represented the Cook Family was responsible for organising the bequest.
