More information about Researchdoc

To assist us in being able to provide prompt, equitable service,

  • When requesting items please use the form of your name that you used on the Researchdoc registration form. (If you use your nickname/alternate name on the request form after using your proper name on your researchdoc registration form you may not be recognised as registered for Researchdoc).

  • Request one item per web request form as this assists in the processing of requests.

  • When you enter the information into the web request form, please indicate the source of the citation eg. Information about the database you searched (biological abstracts on EBSCOhost), the article reference list (full citation of the article in which the citation appears), the URL of a web reference.

  • Search the library catalogue and e-journals list before submitting the request to check we do not already have access either in hard copy (print) or electronically.

  • If the Library has a subscription to a journal (either print or electronic) but a recent issue is not yet available, please do not order the article through Researchdoc. Some of our print journals are shipped from overseas and there could be a considerable time delay (eg 3 months) before an issue is available. Email alert services often send alerts before the print issue has been released by the publisher. We do not process requests for this material under Researchdoc funding. If you require the article urgently please provide alternate funding arrangements on the request form.

  • Be aware that access to some electronic journals has embargo periods imposed by the publishers. Researchdoc does not fund document delivery of any material available through CQUniversity Library which has an embargo period of less than six months.

  • Requests for book loans should be limited to five per week. Most libraries will lend items for 8-10 weeks (refer to the green date due slip you sign on collection of the book), and the items cannot be renewed. If you order too many at once you may not be able to evaluate the information effectively.

  • Often theses cannot be borrowed and it is the policy of CQUniversity Library to purchase the requested thesis and add it to the CQUniversity library collection (according to the Collection Development Policy guidelines).

  • Occasionally book/thesis are loaned to CQUniversity Library with the restriction that they are not to leave the library building. This will be strictly enforced.

  • All queries regarding document delivery to come to the Liaison Librarian - Research .
