Regulations

Alumni  are entitled to an unlimited number of loans which can be made up of items from the Monograph and Curriculum Material Collections.  A borrower may borrow from the library under the following conditions:

  • students and staff of CQUniversity  have prior claim on all library material at all times
  • items are due for return or renewal two weeks from the date of issue (items can be renewed online, by telephone, email, or in person)
  • renewals will not be permitted if the item is requested by another borrower
  • reserve and short term loan items are not available for loan.

The onus for return or renewal by the due date rests with the borrower. The library endeavours to send an overdue notice for overdue items, but has no obligation to do so.   Borrowers are advised not to return material via a third person.

Penalty points accrue on overdue items at the rate of 20 points per day.  A $20 reinstatement fee will apply when penalty points reach 2000.   A borrower becomes ineligible (i.e. denied borrowing privileges) if:

  • accrued penalty points reach  2000
  • regular loans are 5 days overdue

Recalled items

The Library reserves the right to recall high demand items and place on short-term loan. For every three days a recall request is ignored, a  fee  of $20 will apply, up to a limit of $60.  After three recall requests, the Library will charge the borrower the standard replacement fee of $112.45 and a processing fee of $11.00. These charges are non-refundable.

Long overdue items

All Library users are responsible for the material they borrow.  The Library may declare an item lost if the item is six weeks overdue.  Should an item be lost, long overdue, or damaged, the borrower is required to pay a standard replacement fee of $112.45 and an administrative charge of $11.00 to cover the cost of processing.   In lieu of paying the replacement cost, the library will accept an exact copy of the item or a later edition however, the processing fee will apply.  Long overdue items may also accrue a reinstatement fee.  The Library will reverse the replacement cost if the item is returned in good condition within twelve months of the due date.  Recalled items are excluded.

Any person detected at the security gate with library material which is defaced or has not been loaned in accordance with the library's borrowing procedures is liable for disciplinary action.
