Citation Searching

Citation searching can enable you to:

  • Determine how many times your article has been cited by others
  • Locate highly cited articles and researchers within a discipline
  • Follow through the literature to find works published at a later date that are related to or cite an article of particular interest

Scopus

CQUniversity subscribes to Scopus, a large database with access to citation data  across the scientific, technical, medical and social sciences literature from 1996 to date. Scopus provides detailed citation data relating to authors, institutions and articles, including the author's h-index

A tutorial about searching for citations by author is available.

Scopus also provides a citation tracker that can alert you when a document is cited in Scopus. Instructions on using the citation tracker are provided on the Scopus help pages.

PsycINFO - Indexes all areas of psychology

To search for cited references in PsycINFO, follow these instructions:

1. Locate the article by performing a keyword search on the Author's last name in the author field (selected from the dropdown list) AND a phrase from the article title in the title field (selected from the dropdown list).

2. The entry in the results list provides a link to a listing of references that cite the selected article. You can print or save the list for future reference.

Humanities International Complete - Indexes over 1,700 journals as well as selected books in the humanities.

and SocINDEX - Indexes journals, books, monographs, conference papers, and other sources in the area of sociology.

Google Scholar - Covers all areas of research

Google Scholar is a free search engine created to allow easy access to "scholarly" information. Google Scholar does not provide information on what resources it indexes, but many publisher web sites and institutional repositories are included. Check the Google Scholar help page for detailed instructions about how to construct and interpret your search. It is also possible to set up Google Scholar to be able to view links to full text available from CQUniversity Library using these instructions.
