SPSS for Staff

SPSS provides a statistical and data management package for analysts and researchers. With SPSS you can generate decision-making information quickly using powerful statistics, understand and effectively present your results with high-quality tabular and graphical output, and share results with others using a variety of reporting methods.

SPSS Amos provides a powerful and easy-to-use structural equation modeling (SEM) software tool. Create realistic models in addition to using standard multivariate methods or regression analysis.

SPSS for Windows, Amos for Windows, and SPSS for Macintosh are covered under a Site License (whole of University)

Available to staff at Rockhampton, Gladstone, Bundaberg, Mackay, Emerald, Noosa, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast.

  • Software may only be installed on machines belonging to or under the direct control of the University ie CQUniversity owned/leased computers.
  • Staff of the university may also install SPSS/Amos on home/personal computers at their principal residence, and/or on their own laptop computers, provided the Software is only used for CQUniversity related study or non-commercial research purposes.

How do I get the software?

Windows: Self-install form Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Add New Software. Locate SPSS and click "Add".

Macintosh: Self-install from Finder -> select Go -> Connect to Server -> enter AFP://ametrine -> click Connect. Selec the Mac_Applicaiton folder -> SPSS folder. Locate your version and choose accordingly.

For Home Use: submit a Service Request or contact the ITD Service Centre to organise collection of the media.

License Conditions

The products supplied to the university under this license will be available to staff and students of the university for use on any platform presently supported by SPSS. Products will only be available for on campus teaching, administrative and research purposes. Use for commercial or revenue generating research/activities is not permitted. The university may license additional products at commercial prices if they wish to use SPSS for such purposes.

The University is not allowed to sell, rent, give or loan software to students for home use, or to install the software on computers owned by students, even if those students are also temporary or part time staff members.
