Ian has held leadership roles in Central Queensland for the past decade.
His background is diverse with senior local government roles at Ipswich City and as the CEO of Mornington and the former Duaringa Shire Councils. He has also worked internationally as an advisor in developing economies and has been a management consultant to the resources and business sectors. Ian conceptualised and led the creation of the Blackwater International Coal Centre from 2006 until its opening in 2008. He has a firm commitment to social justice, and sees innovation as the linchpin to the regions¿ continued prosperity. He is an artist and a musician.

From 1991 to present I have owned and managed a 4300 Hectare  Commercial Cattle operation at Marlborough in Central Queensland. This follows a whole of life involvement in rural enterprises.

From 1982 to 1986 I undertook a Electrical apprenticeship with the Queensland Electricity Commission (QEC), that was followed by experience contracting in areas of Australia and the United Kingdom. On returning to Australia I established Queensland Mobile Electrics in 1990, undertaking domestic and industrial installations. From 1997 to 2001 I undertook several roles in production and maintenance with Queensland Magnesia (QMAG)

From 2001 to present I have undertaken a more active role in managing a Travel Agency I had purchased in 1997 as a passive investment. In this period we have developed a new business model called SPECIALTY TRAVEL that subcontracts high quality staff undertaking  Specialist Travel Management Services.

Grant Stanley is a Biotechnologist/Chemical Engineer with expertise in cell physiology and metabolism.  He completed his BE (Chem) and PhD at the University of Melbourne and his postdoctoral work at the University of Lund, Sweden.  He has worked as a research engineer at Red Tulip Chocolates and the EPA-Victoria.  Grant joined CQUniversity after working for 16 years at Victoria University, in the later years as Head of the School of Molecular Sciences.  His research expertise is in industrial microbiology, especially ethanol fermentation for beverages and as a biofuel.
