Jenny Simpson was a passionate and inspiring educator. For 15 years Jenny lectured in the University's successful Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) program, which has been the pathway for many mature aged students' university education.
Sadly, Jenny died from cancer in 2008. The memorial scholarship honours her contributions to education in Central Queensland and will associate her name with the opportunity and potential that education offers, into perpetuity.
The scholarship has been established as an endowed fund where the interest earned by the capital will fund scholarships each year, to enable STEPS students to progress to a Bachelors degree at CQUniversity.
The goal is to raise enough funds to award 5 Jenny Simpson Scholarships every year. Alberto Pogliacomi, who graduated from STEPS in 2010 and has enrolled in CQUniversity's new Bachelor of Laws program, is the first Jenny Simpson scholar. We are seeking additional funds to enable more students to benefit from the Jenny Simpson Memorial Scholarships in 2012.
