Student Services and Amenities Fee Feedback

The Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) is a compulsory fee charged by universities and other higher education providers to fund and improve services and amenities of a non-academic nature. If you would like further information regarding SSAF please visit the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIISRTE) website here.

CQUniversity introduced a compulsory Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) from Term 1, 2012, and has sought feedback from students each term regarding their preferences for funding allocation. In keeping with this consultation process, we would like to open a constant point of feedback for students regarding improvements to services and amenities. All students are encouraged to email sco@cqu.edu.au should they wish to provide feedback.

When providing feedback, please provide appropriately detailed information. This information will help us to better understand and utilise your response.

Distance Education and the Student Services and Amenities Fee

Survey responses throughout 2012 highlighted the concerns of some distance education students in regards to how this funding will benefit them. To help support our distance education students funding has been allocated to existing services currently available to both internal and external students, including the CQUni Student Association, Careers and Employment Services, Orientation and the Student Mentors program. All distance education students are strongly encouraged to access these services.

In addition to these existing services, the Cairns Distance Study Support Centre was established in 2012 with assistance from SSAF funding. This centre has been purpose built as a point of face-to-face contact for North Queensland students, effectively closing the gap that had previously existed in the region. The centre gives students a place to seek support, form study groups and access resources and technology. A full list of the extensive range of facilities available at the centre can be viewed at http://www.cqu.edu.au/about-us/locations/cquni-cairns

Distance education students residing in other regions are more than welcome to utilise CQUniversity campus facilities if and when convenient for them. For information on campus locations please visit http://www.cqu.edu.au/about-us/locations.
