General Contemporary Information
Welcome
Thanks for choosing the BMusic (contemporary) program at CQ University. This specialization is offered in conjunction with the Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE (SCIT). After completing theDiploma of Music Performance/Diploma of Music Industry - Business (combined) at SCIT, student can apply for direct entry into the second year of the BMusic (contemporary) program at CQ University. Once accepted, the BMusic (Contemporary) will take two years of full-time study to complete.
Student holding equivalent qualifications to the Diploma of Music Performance/Diploma of Music Industry - Business (combined) from another institution are welcome to apply for entry into the BMusic (contemporary).
How to Apply
Students applying for Direct Entry
Students applying for direct entry should have first completed the Diploma of Music Performance/Diploma of Music Industry - Business (combined) at the Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE. Once completed, applying for entry into the BMusic (contemporary) requires that you complete an on-line application for entry into the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music AND complete an direct entry application.

Students applying for Entry via Credit Transfer
Students applying for entry into the second year of the BMusic (contemporary) must have completed a Diploma of Music Industry (Technical Production) or equivalent. Applying for entry into the BMusic (contemporary) requires that you complete an on-line application for entry into the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music, a QTAC application and an application for credit transfer. You will also be required to present an audition.

Audition Guidelines
Applicants audition DVD should be a performance on their chosen instrument containing:
three contrasting works from the jazz and popular music styles.
The artist's resume should detail the applicants previous experience in this area.
In addition, applicant's should provide in writing the primary reasons for their interest in the program.
DVD Auditions
Applicants for the Bachelor of Music specialising in Contemporary must audition by DVD.
