ACADEMIC DRESS - CENTRAL QUEENSLAND UNIVERSITY


Academic Dress shall be worn at special University ceremonies and on such occasions as Council determines.
 
 
(a) Chancellor Gown Black Chancellor's gown trimmed with gold braid on the front panels, the hem and the sleeves with a sailor-collar trimmed with gold braid and embroidered with 18cm CQU full-colour logo using gold metallic thread
Headwear Black Tudor velvet bonnet with gold braid around the brim and gold beehive dome button and tassels
(b) Vice-Chancellor Gown Black gown in the same shape as the Chancellor gown, trimmed with silver braid on the front panels, the hem and sleeves
Headwear Black Tudor velvet bonnet with silver braid around the brim and silver beehive dome button and tassels

Gown Black Bachelor style, Cambridge pattern
Stole Full length gold, embroidered with full-colour CQU logo on top left hand side and two 2cm strips of satin diagonally across the bottom right hand side; one of University green and one of University blue

Gown Cambridge Doctorate pattern of scarlet cloth with facings and sleeve linings in University blue, piping at end of sleeve and between scarlet and blue facing in University gold

(a) Doctor of Philosophy Gown Oxford Doctorate pattern of blue cloth with facings of green, red and gold satin. The sleeves are fully lined with University green satin, with red and gold satin edging.
Hood Oxford pattern of blue cloth, fully lined with University green satin with red and gold satin edging, and fastened onto the front of the gown with 'hoodlinks' designed according to CQU's Coat of Arms

There is no provision for a combination of colours for the holder of more than one degree. The usual practice is to wear the degree colour appropriate to the occasion (eg at a graduation ceremony, the colour of the particular degree being awarded).

Note:     The standard colours for hoods and facings will correspond as nearly as possible with the Australian Colour
              Standards.
