CQUniversity offers a number of innovative programs to Year 12 and mature age students to enter the mining industry. Partnership arrangements have been developed with a number of companies and organisations that enhance the career choices for students in Central and North Queensland and regional areas. As a direct result of these partnerships, careers in mining engineering, technology and management are now a viable and progressive option for students.

The focus of these programs will be on coal mining as required by Central Queensland local industry needs, but will include general mining elements that facilitate mobility across the entire mining sector:

A number of mining companies offer cadetships, traineeships or work programs that are compatible with part-time study through the flexible, electronic based mode of program delivery offered by CQUniversity's Associate Degree of Mining programs. It is necessary to be appropriately employed on a productive mine site to be eligible to apply for these programs.
