2011 - North Keppel Island
In 2011 our Annual Idiom 23 Writers' Workshop was held on beautiful North Keppel Island. From the 20th - 22nd May writers explored the islands environment and used found objects located on the beach to inspire and inform their writing.
Workshop Coordinator Dr Lynda Hawryluk was joined by Professor Donna Lee Brien to provide workshops on found objects, food writing and publishing and editing. Stephen Butler led writers through a workshop on songwriting, and provided a rousing nights entertainment.
In response to feedback from previous workshops, advanced level writing workshops were offered, and there was a greater focus on writing time. The latter provided ample opportunity for writers to complete a piece of writing while on the island, the results of which are presented here.
