2006 Winners

Bauhinia Literary Awards - Winning Entries 2006

Queensland poet and well known author Jena Woodhouse won the open story section of Bauhinia Literary Awards 2006 with ‘Billy Hunter" and also received highly commended in the tertiary student section for her poem "Here be Lions", and her story "The Wall".

Lecturer and documentary maker Bruce Honeywill not only took first and highly commended in the regional story with "Mail Plane" and "A Christmas Story" but followed this with first and highly commended in the regional poetry with "Island without language", and "Homestead".

Young Mark Lord of Rockhampton scored first in secondary student stories and commended in the poetry with "Too Much Sparkle" and "The Inner Wisdom". Clare Fletcher of Red Hill took first place and highly commended in the tertiary student stories with "The Wreath" and "Summer Story", and highly commended with her poem "To the Foot from its Child".
