Vocational Education & Training Professional Development Workshops

In 2013, the School of Education and The Arts, in association with its professional and industry partners will be continuing its very successful vocational professional development workshops in the teaching discipline areas of Industrial Technology and Design (ITD) and Home Economics/Hospitality. Students enrolled in CQ11 - Bachelor of Learning Management (Secondary and Vocational Education and Training) and CQ10 - Bachelor of Learning Design are able to complete the summative assessment items associated with each workshop and then apply for credit against one of their Discipline study courses. These courses are also available to registered teachers and teachers working in Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) such as TAFE colleges, for use as professional development opportunities to up skill or re-train into these high demand teaching areas.

The following Professional Development workshops are planned for 2013.

INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY & DESIGN (ITD) – Graphics, Manual Arts

Year 1 Industrial Technology and Design Workshops

Year 2 Industrial Technology and Design Workshops 

These workshops are subject to student demand and the availability of appropriately qualified workshop presenters.

If you are intending to attend these workshops your are responsible for arranging your own travel and accommodation.

Workshop participation details:

1. All workshop sessions are conducted from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
2. CQUniversity provides morning and afternoon tea on-site at each school.
3. Lunch is not provided. [Rockhampton Grammar School may have some luncheon facilities available for some workshops.]
4. Due to the nature of the workshop session, it is preferred that students adhere to the designated delivery times for starting, finishing and all refreshment breaks.
5. Safety shoes and appropriate workshop clothing must be worn for all courses except Graphics and CAD.

 Resources provided for participants:

1. Safety glasses, kevlar vests, welding gloves, leather aprons.
2. Learning resource packs for Graphics, Welding and Industrial Design workshops.
3. All printed materials for each workshop including Workbook, Study Guide and Course Profile.
4. All consumables [i.e. materials necessary to undertake the jobs of each workshop].

Registration for each workshop is to be completed online and these links will be available approximately 1 month before commencement of workshop. The link will be sent out as soon as it is available.

Home Economics/Hospitality Workshops

Registrations are welcome from new and current Home Economic Teachers – cost $600.
