The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching) is responsible for shaping and implementing University's vision of excellence in learning and teaching. The focus of the position is on strategic planning, capacity-building, quality assurance and evaluation to achieve the University's learning and teaching goals, in close collaboration with faculties and divisions responsible for delivering education and student learning services. The Pro Vice-Chancellor leads strategic initiatives to enhance the quality of learning and teaching across the University, and manages staff and financial resources to effectively support learning and teaching governance and quality frameworks, academic development, and student learning.
Professor Reed first arrived at CQUniversity in 2007 as Foundation Professor of Biomedical Sciences. Rob's background is in applied microbiology, with on-going research interests in small-scale systems for water treatment. He has experience in the development and application of work-integrated learning, self and peer assessment, graduate attributes and skills, including discipline-specific practical work, and the role of formative feedback in enhancing subsequent learning outcomes. He is a co-author of Pearson Education's highly successful ‘Practical Skills' series of undergraduate student textbooks, with titles covering Biology, Biomolecular Sciences, Chemistry, Forensic Science and Environmental Science and with new titles in preparation. Professor Reed was awarded an ALTC citation in 2010 for developing engaging and effective resources to support student learning across the sciences.
