About the Pro Vice Chancellor (Community and Engagement) and Head of Campus Mackay

The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Community and Engagement) is the chief external affairs officer for CQUniversity and provides leadership and advice to the Vice-Chancellor and President on strategies to cultivate high-quality relationships with the University's internal and external communities and to develop productive partnerships to further the region's interests and the University's strategic priorities.

The position's objective is to foster a deep and pervasive culture of engagement to support the University's mission to leverage its power of place and its goal of becoming Australia's most engaged University. The position has executive responsibility for the Office of Development and Graduate Relations.

The position is also responsible for the management of the Mackay campus by fostering the image of the University, ensuring the goals and mission of the University are pursued in the local community, and being responsible for establishing its strategic and operational agendas.

About Professor Pierre Viljoen

Pierre holds a PhD in Industrial Psychology, is a registered psychologist with the Psychologists Board of Queensland and a member of the Australian Psychological Society. He has worked in Academia in South Africa for 14 years in a variety of roles from lecturer to Campus Director and for the past three years in Australia. Pierre has a passion for Organisational Development and has consulting experience in a variety of sectors. In his free time he likes to spend time with his young family and fishing - which he believes teaches him optimism and patience.
