Social, Recreational and Cultural Activities

The Residential Life Team provides a wide variety of sporting activities, social functions and services for residents to better ensure that life is fun, diverse and full of opportunities. Activities include sporting competitions, dances, video nights and much more.

Residents are eligible for appointment to the many leadership positions available each year within the Residential Life Team.

Some of the amenities available at Rockhampton Student Residence include:

In addition, Rockhampton Student Residence is situated in close proximity to the University’s academic buildings, student amenities, library and sporting facilities. There is access to:

• Dedicated teaching and project rooms for Education, Engineering and Nursing students
• State of the art lecture theatres featuring the latest presentation and audio-visual equipment.
• High-tech multimedia labs
• 24 hour computer laboratory access
• Music teaching studios and practice rooms
• Recording Studio
• Photocopying, scanning and printing facilities
• State of the art library facilities with access to an extensive array of online databases and special use drama and music theatre collections so students are able to source the latest information in their chosen fields.
• A food outlet on campus provides a variety of food and drinks (drink and food items can also be obtained from vending machines)

The Sports Centre is only a short walk away and as part of your accommodation package, residents gain membership to the gymnasium which will also provide you access to the 25 metre swimming pool.

Academic Study Centre

The Academic Study Centre, located centrally on the grounds, is open 24 hours a day for the exclusive use of Residents. It contains a computer lab and two air-conditioned tutorial rooms which are available for individual or group study as well as organised tutorials.

Tutorial Support and Join-in

Academic Tutors are fellow students and provide complimentary study assistance and support to residents. You will also have access to the Join-in Program which provides subject specific tutorial sessions. General tutorials are also held and may cover topics such as study skills, time management, assignment writing, CV and job applications.

Computer Facilities

The computer lab is open 24 hours a day providing access to computers and printers as well as photocopying facilities. All bedrooms are equipped with a network and broadband connection to enable access to the University’s computing services including the Internet. Wireless network is also available.
