Living on Mackay Student Residence

Location

The student residence is a short 5 minute walk to the University, making it the most convenient option, cutting down your travel time and saving you money on fuel. The residence itself is surrounded by local flora, fauna and wildlife, providing a relaxing and beautiful environment in which to enjoy University life.

Transport

Airlines, coach companies and Queensland Rail provide daily services to and from Mackay. Most suburbs within the city limits are serviced by some form of public transport. Mackay Transit Coaches operate Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. Mackay Taxis provide a Taxi Transit service that allows people to share transport from their homes to popular destinations for the price of a normal bus fare.

Accommodation

Residents are invited to personalise their rooms and make them feel like home. There is a selection of room types that vary with cost however all buildings have a common area equipped with couches, television, outdoor seating area, and dining area.

Each room is supplied with a single bed, study desk and chair and a bedside table. There is adequate storage/wardrobe space available in each room.

Block F: Contains 10 air-conditioned rooms with shared facilities including common room equipped with cooking facilities and shared bathrooms/laundry.

Block E: Contains six large air-conditioned rooms with personal ensuite. Shared kitchen facilities located in the common room area.

Block D: Contains six large air-conditioned rooms with personal ensuite. Shared kitchen facilities located in the common room area.

Pods: This three storey building contains 72 air-conditioned rooms, fully equipped with personal kitchen facilities and ensuite. The second and third storey has views across the residence, the University and surrounding farmland. These rooms have recently been developed and flaunt a modern design. The building has a large common area and shared laundry facilities. Each room also come equipped with a fridge and microwave.

Communal Living

Living in the Student Residence community will enable you to meet many other students from different places in Australia and around the world. You'll also get to know students studying different discipline/subjects from you.

Residential buildings have their own shared toilet/bathroom facilities, laundry and small kitchenette.

Carparks

Mackay Student Residence has three separate car parks for residents and guests. These are located in well lit areas close to the buildings and are monitored by the University security and after-hour's duty team.
