Mackay Student Residence

CQUniversity Mackay was established in 1992 and has undergone many developments. The on-campus student residence is relatively new to the campus and is currently undergoing some changes, making this a new and exciting time to be a resident of Mackay Student Residence. It is located on the Mackay CQUniversity campus and is in a rapidly developing residential and shopping area.

The Student Residence provides students with:

  • a great environment to live and learn;
  • a safe, warm and hospitable community with an on-site manager and 24 hour live-in staff;
  • security features such as individually keyed rooms which are fully maintained and cleaned weekly;
  • ability to develop your own identity and level of involvement in residential life;
  • opportunities to apply for leadership positions available within the Residential Life Team;
  • be recognised through our many scholarship programs;
  • a quiet and controlled study environment where academic support has a high priority; and
  • access to our academic support programs such as ‘Join In’ and the many other services available.


The Mackay Student Residence boasts modern student residential facilities with rooms available in block-style accommodation. You may choose between:

  • 12 rooms with an ensuite
  • 10 rooms with shared bathrooms
  • 72 new rooms with personal ensuite, microwave, fridge, stove tops and private veranda


Students are able to take advantage of the new outdoor gym, walk to academic buildings, computer rooms and facilities, and attend performances at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music.
