Ombudsman Profile

My first career was in media starting at the Adelaide Advertiser newspaper in 1965, later moving to commercial and ABC radio, where I worked as a program presenter, journalist and specialist program maker. Between 1971 and 1987, I wrote and produced more than 100 radio feature programs and was a guest book reviewer for ABC Queensland’s Coast FM for an unbroken 13 years from 1994.

Since 1987, I have taught broadcast journalism, politics and professional communication at university level. Prior to my retirement from the Academic Staff at CQUniversity, I was Head of School: Communications (2003 to 2006) and the transitional Head of School: Arts & Creative Enterprise during the University restructure (2006 to 2007).

In my position as Student Ombudsman, I am charged with ensuring that all past and present students of the University receive fair and equitable treatment within the University. The Student Ombudsman is impartial and objective in dealing with matters brought to the Office.
