Connecting to the Isaac Newton Cluster

Windows

To connect to the cluster using SSH, you will require software that will allow you connect using port 22. A free software package that allows this is "Putty" which can be freely downloaded at http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html

Then simply connect to the hosts isaac.cqu.edu.au or newton.cqu.edu.au and use your CQUniversity Domain Username and password to gain access.

If you require a GUI to run applications such as MATLAB, you will require VNC to gain access.  To connect to the cluster using VNC, you will require software that will allow you connect. A free software package that allows this is RealVNC which can be freely downloaded at http://www.realvnc.com/download.html

You will need to start a vncserver session to connect.  Instructions can be found here.

Then simply connect to the hosts isaac.cqu.edu.au:[Display Number] or newton.cqu.edu.au:[Display Number] using the vncviewer software.

Linux

To connect to the cluster using SSH, simply start a terminal session and issue the following command ssh  [Your CQUniversity domain username]@isaac.cqu.edu.au or newton.cqu.edu.au, in which you will then be prompted the enter you password, which will be your CQUniversity domain password.

To connect to the cluster using VNC, you will require vncviewer to be installed on your machine, most Linux Distribution will have it either installed by default, or require install off the installation disks. If you are unable to find it, a free software package can be downloaded at http://www.realvnc.com/download.html

You will need to start a vncserver to connect. Instructions can be found here.

Then simply connect to the host  isaac.cqu.edu.au:[Display Number] or newton.cqu.edu.au:[Display Number] using the vncviewer software.

Mac
