Reflective Practice

It is important that higher education providers design and implement quality systems that are best suited to their own needs. As self-reflection is an essential feature of an organisations' quality system, this too should be designed primarily for the organisation.

CQUniversity gathers information through self-reflection activities such as focus groups for staff and students; questionnaires and surveys; promotion of examples of good practice that individuals and groups achieve; and providing information and advice about how continuous enhancement can be embedded in everyday activities. Other aspects of reflectice practices at CQUniversity include program and course enhancement and review procedures.

Good Practice

Good practice can be defined as "a discrete system or activity that has been identified ... as adding commendable value for the institution /agency and its stakeholders, and that may be beneficially transferable to other organisational settings" http://www.auqa.org.au/gp/faq/answer.php?id=6.

Why good practice and not best practice?

Different universities have developed different approaches in response to their particular students and in conjunction with their particular direction. But in any university, good practice is a comprehensive, integrated and cooperative approach to continuous enhancement of all areas of higher education.

CQUniversity is one of Australia's most innovative and entrepreneurial universities. It is at the forefront of providing access to higher education for under-represented groups, and actively supports them through their educational journeys. It has a number of areas where it is undertaking world-class research.

And in spite of monumental challenges, CQUniversity staff continue to develop new ways to deliver courses, support students, and build processes that earn AUQA Commendations.
