Voicethread

What is it?

Voicethread is a web based application developed at the University of North Carolina. It allows users to add voice annotation to documents, slide presentations, videos and photos. Voicethread is flexible in that users can add remarks using microphones, webcams, keyboards or telephones. By enabling users to add audio commentaries to visual media, it has the potential to be a powerful storytelling and collaborative tool.

Why would I use it?

Voicethread provides creative opportunities for students to tell their own stories and to contribute to or directly critique the narratives of their peers.

How can I use it with my learning and teaching?

One possibility is to get students to post multimedia presentations to Voicethread so that the instructor or other students can offer verbal or text based assessments or their work.
