ePortfolios - Mahara

What is it?

Mahara was adopted by CQUniversity in 2011 as its single ePortfolio platform. Mahara is an open source ePortfolio system that provides users with tools to create and maintain digital portfolio. Mahara allows users to collect a range of electronic evidence such as files, images, videos, links and blogs that can be used to demonstrate achievement. Evidence or artifacts stored in Mahara can be shared with all different kinds of audiences over the web.

Why would I use it?

Mahara simplifies the process of collecting electronic evidence and artifacts. The owner can create windows or views into their collection of electronic evidence depending on the audience.

How can I use it in my learning and teaching?

Mahara can be implemented for developmental, reflective or representational purposes and a number of disciplines are required to maintain portfolios to evidence their professional development. There are many ways in which Mahara can be used in learning and teaching, and it is strongly advised to seek assistance from an educational developer before deciding to adopt Mahara.
