DE Enhancement Project

Project Objectives:

The aim of this project is to address the decline in market share and restore CQUniversity to being a leader in distance education provision. 

Project Goals:

The goals for this project are to: 

  1. To obtain five star performance in teaching and learning 
  2. For CQUniversity to be seen as an institution at the forefront of online learning, offering a quality educational experience. 
  3. To have CQUniversity recognised for its online learning.  
  4. Grow student numbers. 
  5. To enhance the online learning experience for students that will reflect positively in student experiences and improved teaching and learning survey results. 
  6. To ensure excellent student experiences.

This report brings together the outcomes of analysis and discussion and the recommendations and actions from the Distance Education Enhancement Project Team.  It is intended that this be an ongoing project to monitor the implementation of the recommended actions and to provide ongoing leadership in the development of the University’s Distance Education and Online teaching provision. 

The project analysis identified activities within the University where Staff are already applying the principles within the recommendations, are using some of some of the advanced technologies in various Schools and Directorates of the University, and integrating novel tools into course design and delivery. 

The University also has an established research Centre, the Learning and Teaching Research Centre, that should take a role in leading the ongoing scholarship and development of educational innovation in this area.  The Leading Edge group  could form the basis for the development of such a research grouping within LTERC.

The strategic management and policy interfaces with the University’s learning and teaching plan should be aligned with operational plans that embed annual resourcing and practice requirements for continual enhancement and development at the School level.
