National Learning and Teaching Grants and Awards

The Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) (formally Carrick Institute) has been the key government agency responsible for promoting and supporting strategic change to enhance learning and teaching in Australian universities.  The ALTC administers a number of Granting Schemes, Teaching Awards, Fellowships and Discipline Based Initiatives designed to raise the profile of teaching in higher education institutions.

The ALTC will be abolished in 2012, with some of its functions will be managed into the future by the federal Department of Educations, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).

The ALTC website contains information about grants, awards fellowships etc that were previously offered. This website will remain accessible to the public during the transition period to 31 December 2011. Information on this website is correct as of 9 September 2011.

A new DEEWR website for learning and teaching is currently under development. Please direct all inquiries on ALTC programs, awards, and fellowships to DEEWR at:
