
Synopsis
The aim of this program is to promote the professional development of educators in tertiary education. Participants will examine the role of the educator, and the knowledge, skills and dispositions required for effective teaching and student learning. Continuous improvement in learning and teaching practices is a critical focus of the program, by promoting reflective practice, innovation, scholarship and research. Thus, contemporary educational issues will be considered as experienced by participants in their particular contexts and through engagement with current literature.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Analyse the knowledge, skills and disposition that an educator should posses in light of their role in tertiary education.
- Examine policies and learning and teaching theories and practices and how these are implemented in tertiary education contexts.
- Explore and apply effective learning and teaching practices in tertiary education, drawing on best practice approaches to curriculum development and assessment.
- Investigate innovation and effectiveness in tertiary education, utilising a framework for teacher knowledge development.
- Consolidate and apply strategies for engaging in reflective practice, scholarship and research, which include planning and developing a professional portfolio.
