Contact your Rehabilitation Coordinator
Most importantly - Your WorkCover claim lives and dies by your WorkCover Medical Certificate. Your medical certificates must always be current and must never have gaps in the dates from the begining of your claim until the end of it.
You must obtain a Medical Certificate from your doctor to state that you are "Fit to return to work" before you will be allowed to recommence your duties. Your Rehabilitation Coordinator will establish a Suitable Duties Plan if you are able to return to work on restricted duties or restricted hours. A Work Capabilities Checklist will need to be completed by your doctor to establish what restrictions may be applicable to you.
Your Rehabilitation Coordinator is your lifeline throughout this process, ensure that you keep in close contact with them.
Salaries - When you lodge a Worker's Compensation Claim, CQUniversity continues to pay salaries as normal with salaries being booked against your leave entitlements. If WorkCover accepts the claim, then all relevant leave entitlements are refunded to you. Leave entitlements are utilised until exhausted (sick leave then annual leave). In some instances CQUniversity will grant 10 days sick leave in advance if necessary.
