Injury and Illness Management & Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation for WorkCover or Non-Work related illness or injuries

CQUniversity support staff, who may be absent through an injury or illness, to safely return to their normal duties as soon as practicable. The Rehabilitation policy applies to both work and non-work related injuries and illness and support will be offered to staff who wish to remain at work but may have some restrictions through an injury or illness. Detailed information is available for both Supervisors and Staff:

Qualified Rehabilitation Coordinators will maintain contact with the staff member, provide information on their entitlements (including leave), co-ordinate a Rehabilitation Program (if required) and generally provide support.

Workers' Compensation in Queensland is governed by the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 and the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Regulation 2003. The Act provides for a regulatory body Q-Comp to oversee the conduct of the insurers and enforce the Act. WorkCover Queensland provides workers' compensation cover for CQUniversity.

CQUniversity provides access to qualified and experienced counsellors offering a range of counselling services for employees who may need assistance in resolving work or personal issues. The program is available across all campuses. Services include psychological counselling for personal or work related matters, financial counselling, specialised counselling for indigenous employees and a legal advice service. Also offered is a ‘Manager Assist’ service, which offers advice to managers on work related matters.
