All events organisers must contact the CQUniversity Security department to discuss security and crowd control arrangements at least 30 days before the event is held. A Risk Assessment must be conducted in conjunction with the CQUniversity Security department to determine security requirements for various events.
CQUniversity Security can provide security for various events; however costs may be incurred by event organisers for this service. Some events may require additional security or crowd control, and require employment of external contactors for this purpose, with costs borne by the event organisers.
In Queensland, Industries and companies in the security industry must be licensed to work. It is an offence to provide unlicensed security services, or to hire unlicensed security providers. All CQUniversity security officers are licensed to work in Queensland. CQUniversity security officers are also designated first responders in the event of emergencies and event organisers must ensure the CQUniversity security department is consulted in the preparation of emergency planning for all events.
