Events Management

CQUniversity regularly plays host to a vast array of events involving both University personnel and the general public. Community groups and sporting organisations also regularly utilise University owned facilities and grounds to hold various community and sporting based events.

Events are major promotional and marketing tools for the University, and are also an opportunity to showcase our facilities, teaching, research and staff to those who may not normally visit the University.

However, this also comes with a significant level of responsibility and accountability on behalf of the University to ensure that legal obligations are met, and community expectations and standards maintained.

Failing to meet these obligations, expectations and standards can result in exposure across a broad range of risk areas such as legal, reputational, workplace health and safety, environmental, financial, and staff retention and recruitment.

Safety at events is the responsibility of the individual or group conducting the event, and as such a risk management approach must be applied to all events regardless of whether they are undertaken by internal CQUniversity personnel or external groups, and regardless of whether they are held on CQUniversity grounds or at external facilities.
