CQUniversity is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, students, members of the public and contractors. It is our policy that all activities on University grounds are carried out safety and in full compliance with relevant legislation.
Unsafe work practices can result in serious injury and damage to property. They can also result in criminal charges and large financial penalties for employers and contractors alike. It is a condition of entry to all campuses that contractors understand and acknowledge the CQUniversity Health, Safety and Environmental Contractor Induction Handbook.
All contractors must be registered as an Approved Contractor before they can proceed with any work within the University. All Contractors must have completed:
When a Contractor arrives on University grounds they are to report to the respective designated area at each campus and complete the sign-in register.
Contractors will be issued with a CQUniversity identification badge which must be worn while working on-site and returned to the designated area on completion of the work. Contractors must notify the CQUniversity Project Officer of their presence on the site.

Contractors issued with keys are responsible for their safekeeping. All keys must be returned to point of issue each day.

Work method statements are required where contractors are engaged in high risk contraction activities. A copy of the plan is to be given to the CQUniversity Project Officer prior to starting work on the site.
Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) are present in many existing buildings on the Rockhampton Campus. Bundaberg, Gladstone and Mackay campuses do not have any ACM, however Dawson Chambers also has ACM.
Please refer to the CQUniversity Asbestos Management Plan and the Asbestos Registers prior to any work so as to ensure compliance with current legislation.
All contractors are required to participate in an Online Health, Safety and Environment Induction for Contractors. You are required to download and read the Health, Safety and Environment Induction Handbook for Contractors. The Online Induction session takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. Once completed you are required to download and complete the CQUniversity Contractors Information Sheet, have your supervisor sign off that you have participated in the online session and you will comply with the Handbook. Please fax the completed form to the Health and Safety Unit on Fax 07 4930 9022. Please ensure your blue card number is recorded on the sheet.
