Applications should be measured against the established criteria for the position, without reference to irrelevant personal characteristics, such as sex, race, ethnic background, marital status, age, sexual preference, religion or disability.
In accordance with University Policy, selection panels should be established when appointing someone following advertisement of a position. Positions must be advertised if they are new or vacant, and are:

(ii) permanent full-time or part time.
Professional staff positions at or below HEW Level 6 must be advertised at least within the University and may also be advertised externally, at the discretion of the Head of organisational area. All other positions must be advertised internally and externally.
Academic and professional staff positions which are fixed-term for 12 months or less may be filled without advertisement. All fixed-term appointments must be in accordance with the criteria for fixed-term appointments as outlined in the current enterprise bargaining agreement.
