Financial Assistance Options

The purpose of this information is to communicate the different types of financial assistance that the University and the Student Association can provide to CQUniversity students, who meet the applicable criteria. 

Australian Students

Student Support Centre

CQUniversity Students experiencing financial difficulties may apply for assistance or advice by contacting the Student Support Centre. Services offered include:

  • Student Loans & assistance with personal budgeting
  • Counselling, information, and advocacy to assist students in financial difficulty, face to face, telephone or by filling in the Help Me eForm.
  • Advice / Assistance with textbook purchases and other educational resources.
  • Advice on applying for equity scholarships, Commonwealth Learning Scholarships and other grants loans.
  • Help with compulsory off-campus placements.
  • Advice / Assistance with urgent financial hardship.

Please note: The maximum amount allowed for any one loan is $500 for Australian citizens. 

International Students

Please note: The maximum amount allowed for any one loan is $200 for international students, studying at domestic campuses.

Student Association

Emergency Loans

All financial members of the Student Association are eligible for an emergency loan of up to $100, interest free and repayable within thirty days.
Students must be able to provide identification, and documentation proving that they are currently enrolled and are a financial member of the CQUniversity Student Association. First year students are not eligible for a loan until after the census date.

Who Should Apply?

  • Students who require a loan to tide them over until they have received their usual form of income 
  • Students needing a loan for emergency purposes only, i.e.; rent, food, petrol  
  • Financial members of the Student Association

When to Apply?

  • Before 1pm each day. Students will be able to collect loan that same afternoon

CQUniversity Student Debtor Information

The purpose of the CQUniversity Collections Policy is to outline University policy on the management and collection of accounts receivable.
